Christine Farrugia is Director of Research Initiatives at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies where she leads research on the future of work, lifelong learning, and educational access. Previously, she was research director at the Institute of International Education (IIE) where she led Open Doors, a large-scale annual survey of international educational exchange in the United States, as well as other studies on international academic mobility. Dr. Farrugia has over fifteen years of experience as an administrator and researcher of higher education and is a frequent presenter and author on higher education topics. In 2014 she was awarded the Harold Josephson Award for Professional Promise in International Education by the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA). She holds a Ph.D. from SUNY-Albany and M.A. and Ed.M. degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University.
